Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026
Licht is developed by hectahertz. This policy describes how the Licht app and lichtcamera.com handle data.
The short version
The app processes photos on your iPhone and does not send analytics, advertising data, or camera content to hectahertz. Apple services handle App Store purchases and optional map details. The website uses Vercel Web Analytics for anonymous, aggregate traffic statistics and sends your email address to Loops only if you subscribe to updates.
The Licht app
The app does not collect or send to hectahertz:
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Crash reports
- Device identifiers
- Advertising data
- Camera frames or photos
- Location or motion data
What stays on your device
- Photos are saved to your photo library (the "Licht" album). Licht does not upload them to hectahertz. Apple Photos may sync them with iCloud, and other services may access them, according to your device settings and permissions.
- Preferences such as grid, horizon, haptics, file format, language, timer, and optional saving choices are stored using on-device storage. They are not sent to hectahertz.
- Trial state is stored locally and in the iOS Keychain so the 7-day trial can be enforced across reinstalls.
Location and maps
Save Location is off by default. If you enable it and grant permission, Licht embeds GPS coordinates in the photo's EXIF metadata. When you open Photo Info for a geotagged image, Licht may send those coordinates to Apple's map and reverse-geocoding services to display a map and place name. Opening the location in Apple Maps also passes the coordinates to Apple. Licht does not send this information to hectahertz.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold through Apple's App Store. Licht requests product and purchase status from StoreKit so it can offer, complete, and restore the unlock. Apple processes the transaction under its Privacy Policy. Licht has no account system and does not send purchase data to a hectahertz server.
Permissions
Licht requests the following permissions:
- Camera: Required to take photos.
- Photo Library: Required to save photos to and display the dedicated Licht album.
- Location (optional): Used to embed GPS coordinates in photo EXIF data.
- Motion: Used to orient camera controls and, when enabled, show the horizon level.
App services
The app uses Apple frameworks and services for the camera, photo library, maps, location, motion, and App Store purchases. It does not include third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.
The website
lichtcamera.com uses the following services and local storage:
- Vercel hosting processes requests needed to deliver and protect the site. This may include IP address, IP-derived location, request and log information, and device, browser, network, or system details. See the Vercel Privacy Notice.
- Vercel Web Analytics receives anonymous page-view information such as the page, referrer, coarse location, browser, operating system, and device type. It does not use cookies or associate these statistics with a named person. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy documentation.
- Loops receives your email address and technical request data when you submit the newsletter form. Your email address is used to send Licht product news and app updates. You can unsubscribe from any message. See the Loops Privacy Policy.
- Language preference may be stored in a first-party cookie for up to one year when the site detects or you choose a language.
- Newsletter rate limiting stores the time of your last submission in your browser to limit repeat submissions for one minute.
Children's privacy
Licht is not directed at collecting personal information from children. The app does not collect user data. The website collects an email address only when someone chooses to subscribe to the newsletter.
Your choices
You can disable location access in iOS Settings, turn off Save Location in Licht, choose not to subscribe, unsubscribe from any newsletter, and clear the site's language cookie or local storage in your browser. To ask for a newsletter record to be deleted, email hello@lichtcamera.com.
